Kissimmee, FL (May 3, 2016) –Invictus Games Orlando 2016, presented by Jaguar Land Rover, today launched an online Champions Page featuring a collection of heart-felt testimonials and pledges of support from a group of celebrity champions joining Prince Harry and First Lady Michelle Obama in celebration of the mission and impact of the Invictus Games. These champions include: Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Jade Phoenix Lena Evans, NFL player Andrew Hawkins, mentalist and entertainer Jim Karol, CEO of the GI Film Group Brandon Millett, former professional football player Max Starks, former NBA player Kurt Thomas, actress and Senior Director of Justice For Vets Melissa Fitzgerald and Chef Robert Irvine. The Games are gaining international attention as President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama recently posted a video on social media challenging Prince Harry to the Invictus Games.

Founded by Prince Harry and hosted in London in 2014, the Invictus Games are the only international adaptive sporting event for wounded, ill and injured military servicemen and women. Over 500 competitors from 14 nations will participate in the second Invictus Games May 8-12 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.

“After nearly twenty years of professional basketball I am most honored to take the court with these unconquered heroes,” said former NBA player Kurt Thomas, who will serve as the celebrity wheelchair basketball coach during the Games.

These champions join a long list of high profile supporters including Dr. Jill Biden, Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman, comedian and television host Conan O’Brien, actor, writer and director Mike Myers, renown American actress and seven-time Primetime Emmy Award winner Allison Janney, country superstar Tim McGraw, Olympic Gold Medalist Ian Thorpe, Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson, professional dancer Derek Hough, Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins and British soprano singer Laura Wright.

About The Invictus Games Symposium on Invisible Wounds

The George W. Bush Institute will conduct an international symposium at Invictus Games Orlando 2016 on May 8, to discuss solutions aimed at helping returning servicemen and women improve outcomes for their transition back to civilian life.  President Bush will also serve as honorary chair for Invictus Games 2016. The Invictus Games  Symposium on Invisible Wounds will convene warriors, experts and community partners to address the scale and scope of invisible wounds (Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injuries) facing warriors. With representatives from all fourteen nations participating, we will discuss barriers to care, including both stigmas and stereotypes associated with these injuries.
