“Hello, I am Betty Cantrell, Ms. America 2016 and I could not be more proud to send best wishes and support to all of the participants int the 2016 Invictus Games taking this May in Orlando.  The word Invictus means unconquered and it embodies the fighting spirit of the wounded, injured and sick service personnel taking part.  As Ms. America, one of my jobs is to encourage that dedicated spirit of service in all of people that I meet in my year and all of the causes that I take on.  Most people think that Miss America is just a crown and a sash and a title that you win on stage.  But it is much more than that.  The four points of the crown stands for service, scholarship, style and success.  And service and scholarship are at the forefront of those points.  Prince Harry started the Games in 2014 as a way for injured service men and women to come together and embrace the team spirit that comes so natural to them and celebrate their service.  I am honored to cheer on these amazing competitors from 14 different nations and especially want to wish the American team all the best as they get ready for this year’s competition.  Good luck to everyone in the 2016 Invictus Games.”

Ms. Cantrell was Georgia’s representative at the Miss America 2016 competition held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September 2015.  As Miss America, Betty Cantrell serves as the official National Goodwill Ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
