Match Report:  Swimming Preliminaries—Today, eleven of the fourteen nations competing at the Invictus Games went head-to-head at the swimming preliminaries. The facility, which recently opened on May 5, was filled with fans cheering on the competitors.

Both female and male competitors participated in swimming events including the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 100m freestyle and a mixed 4x50m freestyle relay.

Of note, U.S. competitor Mike Rogio received one of his personal best times, giving him the opportunity to move on to the Wednesday finals and a chance for a medal.

The UK and U.S. competitors were neck and neck throughout the morning, but UK came out on top and won the majority of the heats.

“For me, the Invictus Games has given me something to focus on and something to train for. The confidence I’ve got from achieving things in the gym that I never thought I would be able to achieve has massively transferred across into the rest of my life,” said UK’s Zoe Williams who won first place in her heat of the women 50-meter freestyle.

“Adaptive sports allow me to represent France again, not in the military but for France. I am French and it is awesome to represent my country again. The Invictus Games unites people in similar situations,” said Sabastien David of France.

Swimming finals will be Wednesday May 11th from 8am-1pm.  Get your tickets now before they are gone!
